Privacy Policy
The short version
- Henventory stores your flock data on your device. We run no servers and cannot see your data.
- There are no accounts, no ads, no usage analytics and no tracking.
- Optional cloud sync copies your data to your own iCloud, Google Drive, or picked-folder storage — never to us.
- Optional coop weather alerts save your coop's location on your device only; forecasts come from Apple's WeatherKit.
- If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report (technical error details only — never your flock data) helps us fix the bug. You can switch this off any time in Settings.
- Beyond that, the only data processed off-device is anonymous purchase information, handled by Apple and our purchase-management provider RevenueCat when you buy Henventory Pro.
Data stored on your device
Everything you enter in Henventory — hens, egg logs, health records, weights, photos, tasks, storeroom items, earnings, notes — is stored in a local database on your device. It never leaves your device unless you use the optional cloud sync or export features described below. Deleting the app deletes this data; you can also erase it in-app via Settings → Delete All Data.
Photos you attach are saved to the app's private storage on your device only. Reminders and alerts use local notifications scheduled on your device; no notification data is sent to us or anyone else.
If you use the Apple Watch app, your flock summary syncs directly between your iPhone and your watch — it goes nowhere else. Siri features run through Apple's on-device App Intents; we receive nothing when you use them.
Optional cloud sync (your storage, not ours)
If you enable cloud sync, Henventory writes an encrypted-in-transit backup of your database and photos to storage you control:
- iCloud (Apple): stored in your iCloud account under this app's container, subject to Apple's privacy policy.
- Google Drive: stored in the hidden per-app data folder of your Google account. Henventory requests only the
drive.appdatascope, which cannot read your other Drive files. - A folder you pick (household sync): stored in a folder you choose with the system file picker — typically an iCloud Drive folder you've shared with your household. Henventory can only reach the folder you picked. Anyone you share that folder with can see the backups in it — that's the point of household sync, but the sharing decision (and its audience) is entirely yours, made in the Files app.
We have no access to any of these. Disconnecting sync in Settings stops uploads; backups can be removed from Settings or directly from your storage.
Google user data. Henventory's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: data accessed via the drive.appdata scope is used only to store and retrieve your own Henventory backups; it is never transferred to us or to third parties, never used for advertising, and never read by humans.
Coop weather alerts (optional)
If you turn on Coop Weather Alerts, Henventory asks for your location once to save where your coop is (rounded to roughly 100 m — we deliberately don't keep anything more precise). That saved spot is stored on your device only and is used to fetch the local forecast from Apple's WeatherKit service, subject to Apple's privacy policy. Your coordinates are sent to Apple to answer the forecast request — never to us — and the app never tracks your location; the coop doesn't move. Turning the feature off in Settings stops forecast requests, and Delete All Data removes the saved location and all stored weather history.
Purchases
Henventory Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. To recognise your purchase across reinstalls, we use RevenueCat as a purchase-management provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, app-generated identifier and your purchase history for this app — no name, email, or other personal details, because we never collect any. This information is used solely to deliver the features you bought and is not used for advertising or tracking.
Crash reports (bug fixing)
If Henventory crashes or hits an unexpected error, an anonymous crash report is sent to us so we can find and fix the bug. Crash reporting is on by default and can be switched off any time in Settings → Data & Sync → Send Crash Reports.
A crash report contains technical details of the error only: the app version, device model, OS version, and the error with its stack trace. It never includes your flock data, notes, photos, or location — we don't attach screenshots, log messages, or network requests, and reports carry no account or advertising identifier (the app has neither).
Crash reports are processed for us by Sentry, which we configure not to store IP addresses. They are used solely to diagnose errors in the app ("app functionality") and never for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
What we don't do
- No user accounts and no sign-in (Google sign-in appears only if you choose Google Drive sync, and only to authorise that storage).
- No usage analytics — nothing records which features you use or how often you open the app. The only diagnostic we ever receive is the optional anonymous crash report described above.
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No sale or sharing of personal data — we never possess it in the first place.
Children
Henventory is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
